Change in APQN Leadership
Dear APQN Members and well-wishers,
The APQN Board congratulates the President, Dr. Antony Stella, for her position as Commissioner in the Commission for Academic Accreditation in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Board also regrets that her position requires her to move outside the Asia-Pacific region. As required by the APQN constitution, she is therefore resigning as President of APQN.
Dr. Antony Stella, currently Director, Regulation & Review Group of TEQSA, Australia will be taking up her position in Abu Dhabi in a few days. She is therefore resigning from the executive team of APQN with effect from 1 June 2012.
APQN wishes to place on record the remarkable contribution made by Dr. Antony Stella since the inception of APQN. She was a part of the initial discussion on establishing the regional QA network in 2001 and she has been a member of the key committees of APQN since then. For over a decade Stella has been a major source of strength to APQN. In her various roles as project leader, Board member, Vice-President and now President, Stella contributed to building APQN which is now a force to be recognized and admired in the international QA fraternity.
APQN bids a hearty farewell to Dr. Stella and wishes her all the best in the future.
In view of Dr. Stella's stepping down as the President, as provided in the APQN constitution, the Board has unanimously decided that the Vice-President Dr. Jagannath Patil will assume the office of President. In turn, Dr. Patil relinquishes his position as Vice-President and Section VII. 51 of the Constitution applies to filling that consequential vacancy. In Cambodia, the Board authorized the office bearers to consult the Board to arrive at a consensus on recommending one of the elected board members as the Vice-President. This process is now in train and the result will be announced shortly.
APQN is pleased to welcome Dr. Jagannath Patil of NAAC, India as its fourth President. Dr. Patil (‘Dr JP’) has been a leading figure in APQN for the past seven years. As project leader, Board member and Vice-President JP has led several initiatives of APQN. We are sure APQN will scale new heights under his leadership due to his rich experience and international recognition in quality assurance.
The APQN Board looks forward to the collaboration of all members and friends in continuing to work together to strengthen even further APQN’s quality initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
Prof. Li Yaogang
APQN Secretary/Treasurer
