APQN Board member: Mr. Lemalu Lafi Sanerivi (Co-opted)

Mr. Lemalu Lafi Sanerivi is one of the Senior Educational Assessment Specialists (for Accreditation) within the Secretariat of the Pacific Board for Educational Assessment (SPBEA – www.spbea.org.fj). He is leading the development of the Pacific Register of Qualifications and Standards for the fifteen Pacific Island Forum Countries. The Register comprises four domains namely the accredited qualifications; professional licensing and occupational standards; traditional knowledge and indigenous skills; and regional benchmarks for literacy, numeracy and life skills. The development includes coordinating technical support and advisory services to assist in the development of national qualifications agencies (NQAs) and qualifications frameworks (NQFs). He also worked with SPBEA over the 2001 to 2004 period as Professional Officer for the Board's Senior Secondary School Qualifications.

Lafi served four years (2005-2008) with the Samoa Qualifications Authority, directly responsible for the development of the Samoa Qualifications Framework and its related Quality Assurance systems. Life started as a secondary school teacher, college principal, and a Lecturer at the then Secondary Teachers College, which is now the Faculty of Education within the National University of Samoa (www.nus.edu.ws). Lafi served seven years (1993-2000) as Assistant Director of Education in charge of Curriculum Development and Examination and Assessment activities with the Samoa Department of Education.
