Zita Mohd Fahmi is an Associate Professor of Law from the University of Technology MARA with 18 years of teaching and administrative experience and was dean of the Faculty of Law of the University between 1993 and 1997. Assoc. Prof. Fahmi graduated from King’s College of University of London and is married with four children.

She was seconded to LAN in August 1997 when the National Accreditation Board (LAN) was newly established. She held various posts including Senior Accreditation Manager (took charge of corporate and legal affairs and since 2003) and was appointed as the Secretary to the Board and General Manager of LAN.

Other work experience includes:

• Special portfolios – professional bodies 2002–2005. Member of the Joint Accreditation Technical Committee – Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Quantity Survey, Nursing and Architecture.
• Liaison officer with other Quality Assurance agencies
• Conducting various workshop for private educational institutions, assessors and other government agencies
• Developing standards with expert groups
• Provides policy advice
• Drafting regulations
• Presenting papers locally and international seminars
• Representing Ministry and LAN in bilateral trade negotiations and Joint Technical Working Group between countries in field of education
• Core team member in drafting the MQA bill and structuring the new Agency
• Have been appointed Acting CEO on several occasions in absence of CEO
